Biography

Dr. David Daesoo Kim is the founder of Research Institute for Counseling & Education (RICE). Dr. Kim is a licensed professional counselor in state of Georgia. Dr. Kim has enjoyed providing psychotherapy since 2001. He is an adjunct faculty at the Mercer Medical School (Marriage Family Therapy Program) and maintains a private practice in Peachtree Corners, Georgia where he works with individuals, couples, and families in both Korean and English languages.

My Approach

With multidimensional academic approaches that includes theories from psychology, human development, gender studies, and religious studies, I provide psychotherapy through mainstream counseling methods. My philosophy and approach to therapy is to engage people to grow in the direction they choose and to face crises with courage. My approach to therapy includes building relationship through trust and respect, and to facilitate positive action toward the person’s goals which are generally reduced to changes in behavior and lifestyle, awareness or insight and understanding, relief from suffering, and change in thoughts and self-perceptions.
