Reflections from Our Volunteers

"God reminds me that dreaming big is a thing and He steers the wheel so don't be so worried about turnout. I also got to connect with a lot of people who reached out, struggling with their issues, and really sparking dialogue that has made some powerful changes! I was so humbled by the consistent leadership of checking in first and setting a culture of true mental health focus within each team. It wasn't just the organization headline but it was actually practiced in literally everything which was really amazing to be a part of.”

"MSG is my first faith-based, mental health-focused non-profit in which I was delegated to handle social media content creation, so I was able to learn a lot in all, personally and professionally. I enjoyed the huddles as I felt that not only increased our team communication and efficiency but made the team grow in personal connection and faith. Though this past term flew by, I was able to get a good introduction of what it's like to serve the KA community. It was meaningful to me to join the team in prayer and hear more about people's faith journeys in conjunction with their personal lives, as it helped to restart my faith journey with God."

"I learned a lot by seeing people pray, lead webinars, meetings, and simply getting together to discuss how we, as an organization help the KA community and its mental health. I especially got to see different things through the webinar. I never had a chance to do such a fast-paced live translation for multiple speakers. I learned more dependability as I was used to working on things independently. It was touching to see everyone come together in pursuing one goal to help Korean audiences to have a better understanding of the materials shared during the webinar and close the language barrier. This was one of the most meaningful times I had in the year 2020!”

"There are many things that I learned and took away from my experience at MSG. I realized that you get what you invest in the community that you're in. As much I invested, I feel that I received ten times more. I felt very appreciated and covered in team meetings. I think my previous experiences in volunteering felt more business-like, but MSG is a community of believers who wanted to build each other up. Honestly, I feel like 4 months is too short!”
