Biography

Dr. Kim was born in Columbus, GA to first-generation Korean American parents, who immigrated to the US in their 20s. He is currently an assistant professor of psychology at the University of Denver and a licensed psychologist in both Texas and Colorado. He is also licensed and certified to provide tele-psychological services in over 25 states. He has trained or practiced in Georgia, Michigan, Kentucky, Texas, and Colorado as well as teaching, or have taught, graduate students in counseling, interventions, and psychological assessment.

My Approach

Dr. Kim's approach to mental health is grounded in Social Cognitive Theory, and he uses Cognitive-Behavioral approaches. In other words, He wants to get to know your context so that he can best help you. He believes that a person's inner world can be seen and understood from their thoughts, behaviors, and environment. Everyone has the capacity to bring about change, and many just need someone to walk alongside them in the journey of change.
