Biography
Hanna Byeon, LMFT brings over 7 years of clinical experience with children, couples, and adults who are struggling with connecting with themselves and others. Hanna's current focus in her clinical work is with children of immigrants, couples, and adults who are experiencing life transitions, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, the harmful impact of family-of-origin traumas, stressors related to racial and ethnic identity, challenges of spirituality specific to the Asian evangelical experience, and stressors related to childrearing, parenting, and marriage. Hanna has a special interest in working with those who identify as helpers, people pleasers, and parentified children who are used to taking on an over-responsible role in many relationships in their life, constantly giving without prioritizing their well-being, and experiencing burnout.
My Approach
My approach is collaborative while also being forward and directive at times. I aim to provide a safe space for you to freely explore and process your thoughts and emotions around the current struggles you face. Therapy with me will feel structured with a clear goal while offering room to become more aware of the messages you have internalized about who you are and how safe you feel within your relationships and the world. I incorporate the Restoration Therapy model to help provide structure to the therapeutic process and help you identify how your past experiences impact the current patterns in your life. I will work with you to identify the truths of who you are and learn practical tools to experience changed emotions. I also integrate a somatic-based therapy model called Brainspotting to help you utilize the relationship between your body and your brain to process your experiences deeper and heal pain and trauma.
