Biography
Dr. Oksoon Cho is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in Illinois and Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS). She has been working with Korean and Korean American families for their identity, mental health issues, and relationship issues in their immigrant life in the US. Dr. Cho runs Chicago Mental Health Institute to provide mental health services and educational programs for the Korean Community. She also teaches graduate students in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago.
My Approach
My approach is culturally sensitive, humanistic, and Christian based. At the beginning of the counseling journey, I provide clients with a safe and comfortable place to encourage them to fully express themselves without fear of being judged using the Person-Centered approach. As sessions progressed, integrate theories and strategies such as CBT, REBT, Strength-Based Therapy, Family/Couple Therapy, Creative/Expressive Art Therapy, and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, Christian Counseling to meet clients’ unique needs. I provide psychoeducational interventions if needed.
