Biography

Jessica has 15 years of experience working with youth, adults, and families providing clinical services in hospitals, community centers, schools, and private practice settings. Her family immigrated to the U.S. from Seoul when she was 2 years old and she has many personal and professional insights about the acculturation stressors of Korean American youth and families in America. She is passionate about improving culturally accessible mental health care for Korean American families, particularly in church settings. She identifies as a Christian therapist. Jessica lives in South Jersey with her husband and three children.

My Approach

Mental health care is relevant for everyone, not for a special sector of the population. I am a strong advocate of therapy as a form of self-care, not only in times of crisis but as a preventive resource. That said, there are always short term and long term goals at any point. I believe the rapport I establish with clients is the most important factor in eliciting growth - ensuring my clients feel seen, safe, and that we have a shared understanding of goals is critical.

I use an integrated approach of mind, body, and spirit and view the source of many “mental health” problems from a trauma informed lens. Using attachment based theories, I offer cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused brief therapy, mindfulness and somatic therapies targeting struggles caused by interpersonal trauma.
