Biography

Kay Shin a psychotherapist with over 15 years of experience as a mental health practitioner. In her private Practice Office in Manhattan, she meets individuals, couples and families from diverse background who would like to work through mental blocks in both self and relational development. Currently, she also provide virtual sessions to people from various locations, outside of NYC. With her own immigrant history, she brings cross-cultural/cross-racial sensitivities into the clinical dyadic work where the intergenerational and acculturational conflicts are safely explored and worked through.

My Approach

I am an eclectic practitioner, combining a psychoanalytic psychotherapy with other contemporary modalities, including art therapy, mindfulness, experiential trauma focused approaches. I pay attention to unconscious life patterns, help people to acknowledge unwanted history that repeats and therefore to gain inner clarity and a new perspective. Through active listening and guided self actualization, they gain emotional authenticity, a capacity to bear and deal with what feels too painful, and therefore an ability to make a choice.
