Biography

Dr. Diane Sora Shin has trained and worked in various settings providing both therapy and psychological and neuropsychological evaluations to children (as young as 5 years old), adolescents, and young adults. Her therapy specialties include anxiety, ADHD, relationship difficulties, self-esteem, and life stressors/transitions. She also has a strong interest in working with Asian American families and young adults who are looking to address difficulties related to family-of-origin experiences, intergenerational family issues, navigating family or cultural values and expectations, and cultural identity. With evaluations, Dr. Shin has experience in supporting individuals with questions related to attention and focus, learning/school difficulties, social and emotional challenges, and giftedness.

My Approach

My approach is to offer a warm, empathetic, and calm presence for you in order to help you feel understood, gain insight about yourself and how you relate to others and learn new skills. When working with children, I also use interactive play and art therapy approaches. I also understand the complexities that many Asian/Korean Americans experience and value exploring past and current family dynamics, cultural values and expectations, and identity in our work together.
